Boards and modules: Starter kits and BSPs

When selecting an appropriate board or module the search often starts with the Operating System. Therefore we have grouped the starter kits we supply with Board Support Packages (BSPs) as standard in an easy to find way.

These Starter Kits all have the drivers for standard peripherals built in saving you valuable time and expense. Many also come with manufacturers utilities and features to ease your development process. Modules have reference baseboards and schematics available so your hardware engineer can start development at the same time as your software engineer.

However, if there is a module or non standard driver you require then please contact us as we have many years of experience in adaptation and development and can customise packages depending on your individual requirements.

The CoreModule CM1-86DX3 is a PC/104 board with DMP Vortex86-DX3 single chip solution and has a very good performance to power ratio. The embedded TQM5200 module is based on the MPC5200 Power Architecture processor by NXP. With 760 MIPS at a clock frequency of 400 MHz, the MPC5200 achieves a performance class that can handle a wide range of applications. It comes with up to six serial interfaces (PSC1 to PSC6). These can be used for numerous different synchronous and asynchronous protocols.

The J1850 controller originates from the automotive sector as does the MSCAN module (MSCAN: Motorola scalable area network) with two CAN controllers. Additional serial busses are available through the two I2C controllers and the SPI controller. Both controllers support both master and slave mode.

The baseboard STKT104x supports all modules of the type series TQMT104x and represents a universal platform for evaluation and development of customer specific platforms for those modules.

All relevant functions, interfaces and signals of the TQMT104x modules are available on pin-headers to facilitate the development work. The use of starterkits enables our customers to start directly with the development of their application without waiting for the finalization of the hardware development. The time-to-market is significantly reduced by developing hardware and software in parallel and this method saves both time and money.

Alternative low power SOCs and CPUs, such as tablet oriented X86 devices and other RISC CPUs may be used as well. The Module power envelope is typically under 6W. The Modules are used as building blocks for portable and stationary embedded systems. The Qseven concept is an off-the-shelf, multi-vendor, Computer-on-Module that integrates all the core components of a common PC and is mounted onto an application specific carrier board. Qseven modules have a standardized form factor of 70 mm x 70 mm or 40 mm x 70 mm and have specified pinouts based on the high-speed MXM connector, regardless of the vendor. The Qseven module provides the functional requirements for an embedded application, which include, but are not limited to, graphics, audio, mass storage, network and multiple USB ports. A single ruggedized 230 pin MXM connector provides the carrier board interface to carry all the I/O signals to and from the Qseven module. This MXM connector is a well-known and proven high-speed signal interface connector that is commonly used for PCI Express graphics cards in notebooks.

The CoreModule CM1-86DX3 is a PC/104 board with DMP Vortex86-DX3 single chip solution and has a very good performance to power ratio.
