How Fast is Fast: Measuring and Understanding Parallel Performance
Abstract: In this seminar, Intel will show examples of critical parallelism development functions including: accessing various system timers; the performance of various locks in Intel® Threading Building Blocks (TBB) and on various hardware architectures; the pointlessness of optimizing applications that are not on a critical path; and measurement mistakes such as unsynchronized clocks, adjusting for GHz differences, and Amdahl limitations on speedup.
